Every Thursday morning from April to August in Gouda, they do a cheese event in the plaza.
4月から8月までの毎週木曜日の朝、ゴーダでチーズ市が開催されます。
When we went around 10, there were people already making a crowd and the cheese maker and the buyer doing negotiations.
10時ぐらいに行った時にはすでに観光客が多くいて、チーズ生産者とバイヤーのやりとりがされていました。
These are real cheese! VERY HEAVY. It was really hard to pick even one up. But the young boys were throwing these into the wagons.
本物のチーズ。とっても重い！一つでも持ち上げるのが大変な中、お兄ちゃんたちが軽々と馬車の上に投げ合って乗せていました。
They check the quality of the cheese by using this knife. They stick it in the cheese and turn it, then you can get a strip of cheese.
チーズのクオリティはこの特殊な道具を使って調べます。この棒をチーズの中に入れて回すと綺麗に少しだけ取ることができます。
When they negotiate with each other, they hit each other's hands like clapping. Until they reach the right price that they both agree, they keep on hitting each other's hands. When they agree, they shake hands. I asked them if this was a demonstration but they told me that they are doing it real.
チーズを売り買いする時にバイヤーと生産者はお互いに手を叩き合います。自分の納得のいく価格になるまでお互いに手を叩き合い、握手をしたら交渉成立となります。おじさんにこれはデモンストレーションか聞くと本当にやっているそう。
They even had a cute dance show with a traditional gouda costume. Also not in the picture but they have a event for the guests to guess how much there is cheese on the wagon. The person who gets the closest wins 5kg of cheese.
ゴーダの伝統的な衣装を着てのダンスもありました。この写真にはありませんが、馬車に乗っているチーズの重量当てがあり、一番近かった人がチーズ5kgをもらえます。
Gouda was a small nice place to visit.
ゴーダは一日弱で観光するにはちょうど良かったです。
